This week, I had two seemingly unrelated things happen where the second event seemed like an extension of the first event. The first occurrence was a conversation I had with a potential Reiki client. When answering the “What is Reiki?” question, I commented the source of Reiki is Universal Life Force Energy. She had a strong reaction. She stated she is not sure God even exists, as there is no reason why a supposedly-loving God would permit so many bad things in our world. She listed wars, hunger, greed, pollution, etc. So, I responded that I understand her point; there are many problems in our world....

In the past two blogs, we explored the first four stages of spiritual development, as outlined by the Arthur Ford Academy. These stages are: spiritual curiosity and interest; spiritual recognition; spiritual experiences; spiritual knowing; spiritual responsibility. Finally, we have reached the culmination point of the journey, and we are ready to take on the most important aspect of spiritual development – spiritual responsibility.
Spiritual responsibility sounds burdensome, with a list of duties and obligations. Nothing can be further from the truth. Spiritual responsibility is truly a joyful...

The five stages of spiritual development, as proposed by the Arthur Ford Academy, are: spiritual curiosity and interest; spiritual recognition; spiritual experiences; spiritual knowing; spiritual responsibility. The first two stages are the beginning phases of spiritual exploration, but spirituality remains mostly external to the seeker. The following two stages, however, blossom into deeper understanding and internalization of beliefs.
The phase of spiritual experiences is an exciting time! Perhaps, the journeyer feels the presence of a spirit guide or an angel around them – and the being...

Studying models of human developmental stages can be interesting, especially for those of us who like to understand the process of change. Spiritual development is one unique area where there are literally dozens of models describing this arena of growth. Some models are based in specific religions or belief systems, while others correlate spiritual growth to specific ages. Some psychologists contend a child has certain spiritual understandings; adolescents, another stage; young adults, the next level; and so on. These models can be difficult to comprehend, as children’s and adolescents’ spiritual...

When I experience a synchronicity, my arms are covered with goosebumps, and the hairs on the back of my neck stand at attention! A synchronicity is one of those magical moments when there are simply too many coincidences in a situation to be merely a coincidence. I love the saying, “coincidences are God’s way of staying anonymous.” God, the Divine, is the architect of these events – and He designs them for a purpose.
Let me share one of mine. My husband and I were scheduled to visit Italy the week after hurricane Katrina slammed into the Gulf Coast. Troubled by the ongoing needs of our fellow...

If Forrest Gump can say “life is like a box of chocolates,” then, I’ll contend “spirituality is like yeast rolls.” During my stay-at-home mom days, I loved baking yeast rolls from scratch. It was a day-long event, and the house smelled heavenly by dinner time.
When the day was young, I mixed the ingredients and kneaded a ball of dough. Two dozen yeast rolls would eventually be formed from that small ball. This stage reminds me of my early years of religious education. All the questions and answers of my religion were seemingly contained in one rather small book - the catechism. Is that...

As we live in a society where separation from one another exists, it seems religious and spiritual beliefs are yet another avenue for separation. Is it only an illusion that world religions are made up of beliefs, in opposition to each other? There are certain dogmas and tenets that are in opposition, the most egregious one being “my beliefs are right and yours are wrong.” It continues, “you have to have my beliefs to go to heaven and live in eternal life; otherwise, you are destined to live in damnation forever.” Is that a truth?
Since our world is becoming smaller, and connections...

You do not have to identify yourself as a psychic, a medium, or an intuitive, to connect with your third eye chakra. While some people are gifted with strong natural intuitive abilities, every person has the capacity to develop this part of their being.
The third eye chakra, often called the mind’s eye, is located in the middle of the forehead, slightly above the eyebrows. The purpose of this chakra is to enable us to “see” beyond the physical functionality of our eyes. It is the seat of intuition, psychic abilities, and clairvoyance. When the energy in this chakra is fully developed,...
One of the most exciting parts of being a Reiki Master, and an author, is meeting like-minded folks on the journey. When service to others becomes one’s mission in life, we seem to find each other. It is truly a wonderful blessing to meet so many special people who have come into my life. Each person has given me something new to think about, inspired me, or challenged me to take the next step.
Here is one of those amazing stories….
One day, I received an email from a local woman who offered to do a youtube video for me, at a very reasonable rate. I admit it – I knew in today’s world,...

Archangels are powerful celestial beings, the chief messengers of God to human beings. The “el” suffix of most archangels’ names literally means “in God.”
Archangels existed before humankind did. They live in both the heavenly realms and the earthly sphere and are easy for people to access. For many, it is easy to hear and feel their presence. The main purpose of archangels is to bring peace to earth, as we are reminded every Christmas season. And, peace begins within each individual person. When we live with feelings of discord and unpeacefulness, no matter what the origin, peace...
